My Guide To Setting Long Lasting Goals

So I thought I’d throw in some goal setting guidelines which I go by in my life. I find the process to be quite powerful and leads to a much better outcome conversion rate!

1. Write them down. The act of setting your goals down on paper begins to program them into the subconscious mind which in turn begins to work towards achieving them. 2. Remember to use the five senses plus emotion . Use your imagination and describe your goals as vividly as possible, like they were already a reality. Describe them using your five senses and add heaps of emotion. Emotion adds massive power to your goals. 3. Be very specific. The clearer you are about what you want in life the more readily it will manifest itself. 4. Write your goals in the present tense , as if you have already achieved them. Say “I am” not “I am going to”. 5. Be 100% committed to the things you want to achieve , especially to your goals. A big reason for under achievement is lack of commitment caused by not being sure if the goal is really what is desired. If you achieve your goals and decide that you want something else, then go for that! 6. Choose goals and targets that stretch your abilities and yet are within what you believe to be possible. 7. Make sure your Goal Book is well balanced. It is important to set a variety of long and short term goals for all areas of your life to ensure a sense of balance. Some areas include: Self Image, Career, Health, Personal Growth, Leisure, Relationships and Prosperity. 8. Allow for more or better – expect the unexpected . Often the universe will supply you in unexpected ways. Always allow for something better than what you are expecting by concluding your goals with: “This or something better”. 9. Be sure to have a completion date. It is important that you set a date for the completion of your goals to lock in your commitment and desire. 10. Reward Yourself. Upon reaching or achieving your goal it is great to reward yourself. The recognition of your success will strengthen and increase your self-image and help you build a success program, this then contributes to the realisation of your other goals. 11. With short term goals, be realistic. Don’t set them too high, or you’ll end up feeling discouraged. It’s better to take a short, reachable step and then set a new goal, to create a feeling of confidence. 12.With long term goals be expansive and idealistic . Let your imagination open and up and reach for the highest. This will inspire you. 13. Put your main focus on the essence of the goal . For example, don’t aim to win the lottery if you really want the lifestyle associated with it. Target the essence of your desire, and don’t worry about the details, those may change. 14. Don’t be compulsive about your goals. Don’t try to make them happen. Hold them lightly, relax and let them happen at their own pace and in their own way. Turn them over to your highest self to create them, and let go. 15. Be flexible. You will probably find that many of your goals change frequently, but there is an essence in the most important ones that remains the same, and helps to guide you close to your highest purposes.

Exit interviews are a MUST at our Studio. When someone leaves your studio for whatever reason, you want to know why. You need to know what made that person doubt their health and fitness journey with your brand, and what attracted them to go to a competitor?

Whenever you’re looking at your first studio location or you’re looking to open a new location it’s important to have a solid projection of what everything is going to cost going into it. The reason is that you’ll want to know what your budget should be set at and if the breakeven is going to be worth it. Sometimes, 2 different spaces can vary widely and it’s best to take into account all your one-time and fixed costs before committing to a space. Choosing the right finance option can help you fit out your new Studio with the equipment you want, and open the doors, sooner. The below article was sourced from the Fitness Australia website, in conjunction with Stratton Finance, who I use regularly through my own companies.

When I was looking to finance my Studio 15 years ago, I was lost. I had no idea of my options, and there was no-one I could lean on for advice. I had exhausted all the traditional methods to secure finance until one day, when I least expected it, an opportunity arrived and I grabbed it with both hands!

Let’s be honest.. opening your own facility is what every trainer aspires to. The pinnacle of the Industry, it’s when you have made your mark and gone to the highest level. It was always my ultimate goal to open a facility and have something I could call my own. To change the lives of the local community, create a place of education and inspiration, and to be able to say.. that’s mine, I CREATED that!

Let's backtrack a little.. it's November the year before, you're winding down to Xmas, it's been a solid year of work and you've made some decent money so you're feeling good and satisfied. That's cool, but because it's your first year in business you probably haven't experienced the next few months... now if it's not your first year in business and this is happening regularly then you definitely have to keep reading! Now, this used to be my routine for the first 3 YEARS of having my own Studio! I made good money through the year, then closed the Studio down for 2 weeks over Xmas, recharged the batteries and went back mid January ASSUMING all the clients would come back with me... seems logical, but this was a hope, not a plan. I'm a slow learner - but after the third year of this happening where I had a decent year and then suffered for the following 6 weeks between December and January, I had to make a change. After I implemented the following strategies, December ended up being my BIGGEST month of the year and set me up for the reduced cash flow in the January period when my clients were away. Here are a few things I do REGULARLY now to ensure I make solid cash over the Xmas and New Year Holiday period..

It's easy to say you own a business, but does your Business really own you? Let's be honest.. any fool can obtain an ABN, get their Certification, buy some equipment and start training people in the park.

I am still pinching myself as to how amazing the Studio runs.. it's taken a lot of hard work, long hours, painful lessons, a lot of mistakes but the result is a high six figure Studio with a fabulous team of trainers running it on a daily basis.
