Here’s what I
did:
I offered clients an “add-on”
for
each session.
What they do is literally “add
on” $3-7 per session on their invoice/weekly debit to include a protein bar and
a keto shake. They actually
have 3 options for add-ons.
1.
Protein bar for only $3 per bar
– to have after the session
2. Ketone shakes from Nutri-bullet
blender. Our trainer is ready to get these sorted if a client brings in their ‘Fitness
Revelation’ water bottle (we give them this when they sign up with us). It
costs $5 extra per session.
3. Both the bar and shake for $7
per session extra.
We used to have another add on - the bottle of water!
We sold these for $2 extra per session and did about $500/month in
extra revenue.
Note
: In
2015 we ended up selling branded water bottles for $20 each instead and getting
a water fountain installed. It was more convenient for our members and our clients
became environment conscious – which we respected 55357;56842;
So, when you have a client resign for their new package (I do not recommend upselling when they are first signing up or it will look like you are hustling them…) offer them the option of adding on a shake and/or protein bar so that they don’t have to remember to bring money for each session.
Market it as a convenience.
People are HAPPY to pay for conveniences in life.
All they have to do from now on is walk in to your studio and fill up their bottle with a shake and then grab a protein bar on the way out (or before if desired).
You could even bring a box of bars to a corporate group each session!
I think we’d all agree that whole foods and protein shakes are much cleaner alternatives to protein bars, but we do have to be realistic. Many of our clients are busy, can’t cook, or just want something fast to eat on the go.
This is when good quality protein bars & ketones make a big difference. So here’s how the math adds up quickly:
If you have 50 clients training on average 2x a week and just 25% of them (2.5 out of 10) take you up on the add-on offer of $3 per session, then that means you’ll be making $300 a month. How easy was that!
50 clients x .25 x 8 sessions/month x $3 = $300
If they choose the $7 option well then you’re making $700 a month in extra cash.
And if 50% of your clients take you up on the add-on offer then you’ll be making $1,400 extra per month!
I could do maths like this all day!
Of course, you’ll have to subtract $1-2 per sale depending on the initial cost, but you’re still making a ton of profit. Example: if you’re selling bottles of water, buying a case of 24 water bottles costs about $8. That means each water bottle will cost about 30 cents… mark-up of $1.70/bottle. Even more if you can swing it! You can safely assume you’ll be making 200% profit with each sale
and the sale was already prepaid and there’s no extra work involved. It’s like raising your rates $2-3 per session (profit) without phrasing it that way!
I truly hope you implement this “sure-fire profit increaser” in your business since it’s a win-win for both you and your clients!
